Lest we forget

DDK was very peculiar and often unpredictable. However he would have liked that the celebration was without a chair person, no garlands and praise to the skies. All that was talked was simple analysis, an effort to understand in the context and learn.
Once we thought of bringing all that was discussed into this blog, but soon found it was not worth. If the comment is not worth the original it is better not taled about.

DDKosambi Centenary

Prof. D.D. Kosambi was one of the finest intellectuals of the last century who applied mathematical methods of research to history and culture of India. 2007 is Kosambi’s birth centenary and a few of his admirers have decided to hold a seminar in commemoration.

A one-day seminar in English will be held at Manipal Institute of Communication on 22nd July 2007. Some well-known historians and distinguished scholars in other disciplines are participating in the seminar. Discussions and presentations would include the life, work and vision of Prof. Kosambi. The relevance of Professor Kosambi’s work today and the paradigm changes his line of thought introduced into Numismatics, History, Culture and Scientific temperament would be discussed.

A few episodes of a 13 part serial named “India Invented” produced by Dr. Arvind N Das and dedicated to Prof. Kosambi would also be screened.
